Add website name to page title

Want to add your website name to every page title? That's easy in Joomla

How do I add my website name to page title in Joomla?

To do this, go to "System > General Settings".

In the first tab "Website", you will see your website name that you entered during the installation of Joomla.

Paginatitel websitenaam

In the "SEO" section at the bottom of the page, you will see the option "Website name in page titles".

websitenaam in paginatitels

You can turn this option off if you don't want to show your website name in the page titles.

You can choose to show your website name before the page title. You will then get: Website name - Page title

You can also choose to display your website name after the page title. You will then get: Page title - Website name

I prefer the latter option because the page title displays the content of the page, which is what people are looking for in Google.

Tips for your website name in the page title

  • Add the most important keyword to your website name. Your website name (or company name) does not always have to directly tell what you do. In my case "Joomill" says nothing about the service I provide. By adding "Joomla Specialist" behind it, you (and Google) know what I do.
  • Don't make your website name too long. The title of a page is adopted by search engines in search results but there is only a limited space for it, a maximum of 70 characters. If you use more characters, it will automatically be truncated by Google.

  • A title that is too short can also cause the title not to be adopted.
