Receiving iDEAL payments through Joomla

iDEAL payments through your Joomla website or webshop is quite possible. There are several ways you can arrange this. Personally, I prefer to make this connection with Mollie.

What is Mollie?

Mollie is a payment service that can be used for both webshops and websites. You can link Mollie to a Joomla webshop or website form when you want to be able to receive payments via various payment methods, such as iDEAL, PayPal and credit card. Mollie's services are cheaper than those of the Dutch banks. You don't pay any connection or subscription fees, you only pay a small amount or percentage per transaction.

Your customers' payments are deposited into your account at Mollie. You will receive notification of each payment via email or text message. Through Mollie's dashboard you have direct insight into all transactions and statistics. And the payments can be transferred to your own bank account on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.

Mollie wants to offer customers reliable payment options, but wants as much certainty as possible that the service will not be abused. Therefore, there are a number of requirements. For anyone who wants to link Mollie to Joomla, it is mandatory to have a business bank account number and a Chamber of Commerce number and list them on the website.

The Mollie payment service supports various packages that are widely used.If you use one of these solutions, you can link Mollie by means of a plugin. The relevant code then takes care of the communication between the Mollie payment platform and your website or online store. If you need help, feel free to contact me.

Link iDEAL to a Joomla payment form

A Mollie payment method can also be used for forms in for example RSForms. You can think of booking tickets for an (online) event, ordering products without using a complete webshop, paying a membership for an association or for donations. If you need help, feel free to contact me.

What are the costs of Mollie?

Mollie has no connection or subscription fees, you only pay a small amount or percentage per transaction. These depend on the chosen payment methods. For iDEAL you pay €0.29 per transaction. For credit cards you should think of an amount of €0.25 + 1.8% (personal) or 2.8% (business or outside Europe) and for the other payment methods around €0.25 per transaction.

Linking Mollie to Joomla: you need an API key

If you want to connect Mollie to Joomla, first of all, you always need an API key. An API key is also called an API key. API stands for Application Programming Interface. The live API key is used for payments. You can also find a test API key that can be used during website development. The API keys are used to prevent abuse or misuse. It is good to know that it is not complicated to obtain an API key. You can easily copy this personal code from the Mollie website. If you need help, please feel free to contact me.
