Install Joomla
The installation of Joomla consists of 3 (simpler) steps.
In this article, I will assume that you have unpacked and copied the file "Joomla-xxx-Full_Package.zip" to your server. You have also already created a database.

In the first step, you can choose the installation language (this is not the language that will be used later in Joomla, but only for the installation steps).
You also have to enter the website title in the first step. You can change this title later in the configuration and it is used, among other things, as the prefix or suffix of your page title.
You no longer get the question whether the website should be displayed offline, familiar from Joomla 3, and this can only be set in the configuration. Even the website description is no longer prompted. Surely, in terms of SEO, this was better to always leave blank.

In step 2, you will be asked for your login details. You have to provide your full name, username, password and e-mail address.
Your full name is a new field during installation. Nice that you are not called "Super User" by default these days.
The little eye near the password field is also an improvement. Clicking on this eye changes the *** in your password. This way, you can see what you are typing and avoid typos. As long as nobody is looking at your password behind your back, there is of course nothing wrong. By default, asterisks are still shown.

In thethird and final step, a connection to the database is established. Here you specify the database type, database name, username and password and database prefix. The question is missing whether you want to backup or delete any old database, but these days Joomla takes care of that itself. When you use an old database with a different prefix, Joomla leaves the old database in place. This is also the case with Joomla 3. But if you use a database with the same data and the same prefix, Joomla always makes a backup of this and replaces the database with the new installation. This way, you never accidentally lose data.

After this step, Joomla is installed and you can start. However, you do have the option to install additional languages immediately after installation.
Want to make sure the basics of your website are right, secure and fast right from the start?
