What is Mollie?

Mollie is a payment service that can be used for both webshops and websites. You can link Mollie to a Joomla webshop or website form when you want to be able to receive payments via various payment methods, such as iDEAL, PayPal and credit card. Mollie's services are cheaper than those of Dutch banks. With Mollie, you do not pay any connection or subscription fees; you only pay a small amount or percentage per transaction.

Your customers' payments are deposited into your account at Mollie. You will receive notification of each payment via e-mail or text message. Through Mollie's dashboard, you have direct insight into all transactions and statistics. And payments can be paid out to your own bank account on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.

Mollie wants to offer customers reliable payment options, but wants as much certainty as possible that the service will not be abused. This is why there are a number of requirements. For anyone who wants to link Mollie to Joomla, it is compulsory to have a business bank account number and a Chamber of Commerce number and list them on the website.

What are the costs of Mollie?

Mollie has no connection or subscription fees, you only pay a small amount or percentage per transaction. These depend on the chosen payment methods. For iDEAL, you pay €0.29 per transaction. For credit cards, you should think of an amount of €0.25 + 1.8% (personal) or 2.8% (business or outside Europe) and for the other payment methods around €0.25 per transaction.

Which payment methods can I use with Mollie?

At Mollie, you can use these payment methods, among others:

PayPal is the most widely used online wallet worldwide, with more than 184 million active users. It is available as a payment method in 202 countries and is also increasingly used in the Netherlands. Every year, over 4 million online purchases are paid for via PayPal in the Netherlands.

With Mollie, you receive payments quickly and easily via Belfius Pay Button, the online payment method of one of Belgium's largest banks.

The Electronic Payment Standard (EPS) is a payment method developed by a number of Austrian banks. This makes EPS the main payment method for bank transfers in Austria and very popular with Austrian customers.

The KBC/CBC Payment Button is an online payment method for customers of KBC and CBC, together Belgium's largest bank. KBC focuses on Flanders and CBC on Wallonia.

Przelewy24 is Poland's most widely used payment method. Przelewy24 enables online payments for Polish consumers via a large number of Polish banks, international credit cards and various other payment methods via, for example, SMS.

SEPA stands for Single Euro Payments Area. It was introduced by the European Council to simplify payment transactions in Europe. With SEPA, transfers can be made from any European payment account to any other European payment account.
