# This site is down for maintenance

You get this notification when the site is displayed offline due to maintenance.

## Disable maintenance mode via configuration.php

 You can put it back online by setting *$offline*from "1" to "0" in **configuration.php**.

 Note: Sometimes saving this file does not work because the file has **write permissions (CHMOD)** set to 'read-only' (444) instead of writable (644).

 
## Disable Maintenance mode via General settings

 If you still have access to the administrator area, go to the "System > General settings".

 There you set the Website Offline option to "No"
